Westcliffe CSA Share 2023

All produce is grown organically. No herbicides, no synthetic fertilizer. We are incredibly picky about what pesticide we use. We always try to start with neem oil or castile soap and water. If that fails, we move on to Organocide (sesame oil and fish oil) used sparingly and only when necessary. Please note that your produce will come from the ground, dirt and all. Washing produce immediately shortens the shelf life, so we leave it dirty. Please wash your items before use or when you put them into the fridge.

2023 CSA Shares for July through the second week of October. Please read all of this information before signing up.
The box includes 5-9 different items, providing for 1-3 adults/kids. A limited number of box purchases may choose to add a dozen eggs for $4.50 each week. We charge $6 at the market. You will receive more than $16 worth of items based on what we charge at the market.

We will provide a good variety of items in each box. Boxes may include spinach, arugula, new potatoes, spring/regular onions, garlic, tomatoes, carrots, radish, summer squash, zucchini, beets, turnips, green beans, peas, basil, mint, leeks, rosemary, sweet corn (if it finishes!), shallots, cauliflower, and cabbage. The October box will be a mix of potatoes, onions, carrots, garlic, mint, basil, cabbage, and possibly winter squash and broccoli. October’s box depends heavily on the weather. We’re not going to know if the long season items will finish until they’re done. As a side note, root veggies like carrots, beets, turnips, and radishes hold best when the tops are cut off and they’re put into a bag in the produce drawer of the fridge. We’ve had them last for months like that. If you are new, please be advised that you will be getting potatoes regularly. We grow a LOT of potatoes because they do very well here.

Orders need to be placed and paid for no later than Friday June 9th. You can pay with a card, Venmo, cash, or local check. You may also swing by the farmer’s market the first or second Friday in June to pay for your share.

Pickup will be every other Monday at Jess Price park starting in July. Boxes need to be picked up between 9 am and 9:30 am. Your items will have been picked as close to pickup as possible, but the earlier you can get your box the better. Most items will need to be refrigerated immediately. We can deliver in town only if you aren’t able to meet us at that time. You can also make arrangements to meet us at Airport Road and highway 69 if that works better for you. Due to insurance and big farm dogs, we don’t offer pickup at our home.

We will be taking on eight members this year, which is the most we’ve offered in Westcliffe. Due to the number, we’ll be doing four each week. Group A will be first starting 7/3. Group B will start 7/10. You will pick up your share every other Monday from that schedule. I recommend setting a reminder or event in your phone. I am going to try to send out emails the night before, but as they may be forgotten or go to spam, please don’t rely on those as your reminder. I will let everyone know which group they are in once the spots are filled, and send a list of your pickup dates.

If you will be out of town for one of your boxes, please make arrangements beforehand.

8 Boxes at $16 each totaling $128.

Sales tax at 3% for the City of Westcliffe has been added in to the cost of each share.

If you’ve got any questions, let us know!
